Cristian Vega's film, "What is a Boy," has been nominated for a Student Academy Award. The competition drew entries from around the world. Vega was one of six U.S. filmmakers among a roster of 14 that included students from Korea, France, Germany, China, Taiwan, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Ashley Wilson started a YouTube channel, Ashley’s Roses, and eventually earned a bachelor’s degree in cinematic arts and technology from CSU Monterey Bay, graduating in May. Being behind and in front of the camera also gave Wilson a platform and outlet to talk about her genetic disease, cystic fibrosis. The disease figures prominently in her capstone project film, “I Choose You.”
For the first time, the California Orchestra Academy is holding its summer music festival for young musicians at CSU Monterey Bay this week culminating in two free weekend concerts, one at Cabrillo College and the other at 911ºÚÁϱ¬ÁÏÍø.

911ºÚÁϱ¬ÁÏÍø campus closes for Fourth of July holiday
The annual New Student Otter Orientation is an important element for students who are beginning their 911ºÚÁϱ¬ÁÏÍø educational careers. First-year students went through their orientation June 22-24 and 26. Transfer students are scheduled for their turn July 13-15 and 17.
Power outages will take place on campus as preventative maintenance work is completed in June, July and August
911ºÚÁϱ¬ÁÏÍø Facilities Management announced maintenance and construction projects planned for East Campus from June through September.
