Give Campus Items a Second Life
At Cal State Monterey Bay, sustainability starts with everyday choices. Second Wave Supplies helps reduce waste by collecting gently used items from offices and students, and making them available to the campus community at no cost.
Whether you’re clearing out supplies or looking for something you need, Second Wave makes it easy to reuse, share and keep materials out of the landfill.

Hours: Tuesday to Thursday, 2 to 4 p.m.
Donate Items
We welcome gently used items that others can use right away.
- University-owned items: Submit a to schedule pickup and delivery
- Personal items: Email sustainability@csumb.edu to confirm acceptance, then drop off during open hours
Quick guideline: If you would use or buy the item in its current condition, it’s a good candidate for donation.
If an item is broken, worn out or no longer usable, visit the waste and recycling page for proper disposal options.
What You Can Find and Donate
- Office supplies (paper, pens, markers, folders, binders, staplers, tape and more)
- Dorm essentials (lamps, kitchenware, décor, small appliances)
- Desk organizers and storage containers
- Small electronics (Note: Follow IT protocols for computers and large equipment)
- Unopened ink cartridges and toner
- Holiday and event decorations
- Other useful items for students, staff and faculty
What We Don’t Accept
- Broken, damaged or dirty items
- Clothing (consider OtterCare or local donation organizations)
- Furniture
- Large appliances
- Food
